Handmade Frame Species

Each wood has its own character and charm. We'll choose a species that complements your taste and the personality of your artwork.

Also cherry, cedar and pine.

Finishes include:

Shellac
- Produces a warm glow or a bright shine
- Applied by either brushing or wiping
- Typically waxed
Wax
- Can be used alone or over another finish
- The most basic finish. Provides a warm, satisfying glow
- Hand rubbed
Oil
- Similar in appearance to Wax
- Penetrates the wood and dries hard to provide more protection
Lacquer
- Applied by spraying
- Opaque colors include black and white
- Translucent colors include clear and white wash
- Satin or semi-gloss finish
- Provides the most protection.
Latex Paint
- Your own custom color can be mixed and sprayed
- Flat or semi-gloss finishes.

Stains include:

Ebony
- Usually applied to walnut
- Brown/black in color.
Dark Brown
- A favorite of the Craftsman movement
Black Dye Stain
- Luscious black color on maple
- Lets the grain show through
Mahogany
- Warm, reddish tone
