Family Events
Trunk or Treat* - October
This is the first SPTO event of the year and the first opportunity to earn event credits for Field Day requirements. All are invited to decorate a trunk in the parking lot or help with fun and activities inside the school. There will be pizza sales, prizes for decorated trunks, music, games, crafts and more! This is a cash only event and registration is requested. We need a lot of volunteers to make the night successful. We’ll need help with setting up, cleaning up and all the fun things in between!
Giving Tree - November
Information about the Giving Tree will go home in November. The Giving Tree will allow students to select tags with gift suggestions off of a tree to give back to those in need in our community. Watch for a form to fill out if you’re looking for a good cause to donate to during the season of giving. We will also be looking for volunteers to come into the school during the day to organize gifts.
Cookies & Cocoa* - December
Cookies and Cocoa is the second opportunity to earn event credits for Field Day requirements. It usually takes place the first or second Friday of December. Cookies and Cocoa is an event for the whole family! Siblings are welcome to join to take pictures with Santa, decorate cookies, make reindeer food, write a letter to Santa, get their face painted, make a craft, and hang out with friends. This event needs volunteers to set up, cleanup and lots of things in between. A half hour of your time will make the night a success.
Paint Night*- January
Paint Night is the third opportunity to earn event credits for Field Day requirements. This event will take place in January. Paint Night invites an adult and student to make a painting together. Ms. Remaley leads our paint night. A signup flyer will go home prior to the holiday break with more information about the price and how to sign up.
Bingo Night* - March
Bingo Night is a huge fundraiser event at Scott and is the fifth opportunity to earn event credits for Field Day requirements. This event planning process happens months in advance, gathering items for raffle baskets, contacting potential sponsors for the evening and much more. The night of the event will require help with setup, front door registration, selling raffle tickets and extra bingo cards, and much more. Remember, extended family is covered in your SPTO membership and grandma might love to come help sell raffle tickets or get involved with checking bingo cards throughout the night!
Student Activities
Holiday Shop - December
Start writing your list for the Holiday Shop! At Scott Primary, all students will get the opportunity to shop for their family for the holidays. We provide a large selection of gift items that range from $1-$3. Very affordable for families and allow students to think of others at a very special time of year. SPTO members will be invited to volunteer at shop days to help students shop, check out and wrap their gifts. Watch for a paper to come home with more information about class shop dates.
Fun Friday* - February
Fun Friday is the fourth opportunity to earn event credits for Field Day requirements. This is one of the most anticipated events of the year! Fun Friday occurs every Friday in February. A Fun Friday flyer will go home to let you know which classes are available. Classes offered in the past include: Lego, coding, crafts, pet therapy, zoo, Taylor Swift, yoga, and many more. Fun Friday classes are led by parents and teachers. Students stay after school on these Fridays and classes run from 3:45-4:45pm. Many volunteers are needed to lead classes, be classroom helpers, and monitor hallways.
READCycle - Spring
READcycle happens in the springtime at Scott and is our version of a book fair. Students are encouraged to donate books and, in exchange, will get to pick out a new-to-them book to take home. For every book that your student donates, they will receive a voucher for a new book (with a maximum limit). There is no limit to the amount of books you are able to donate. Watch for the flyer to be sent home for more information. Scott accepts book donations all year long if you’re ever cleaning out your bookshelves.
Field Day - May
Field Day is the most exciting day of the year! A day full of water relay races, cold sweet treats, inflatables, games and lots of smiles. It’s also a day that requires a lot of help and volunteers! You may have noticed that 5 of our events were labeled as ‘opportunity to earn event credits for Field Day requirements’. The first opportunity to volunteer at field day is given to those who attend 2 SPTO meetings and volunteer at 2 of the large events (Trunk or Treat, Cookies & Cocoa, Paint Night, Fun Friday, and Bingo Night). Make sure to fulfil your requirements so you’re able to be part of the end of year fun!
