Trujillo introduced legislation on 2/1/2019 to address school district requirements for Gifted Education. House Bill (BH) 454 addresses acceleration, including early entrance into kindergarten, grade skipping, concurrent enrollment in high school and college as well as other research based interventions for high ability learners. The bill also addressed ancillary services, such as social work, transportation and occupational therapy, be made available for gifted students as deemed appropriate by the IEP team. In additional to these proposals, the bill will address inclusiveness for gifted students who also have disabilities, language differences and socioeconomic disadvantages.
