Sightseeing

Omachi, Chiba, Japan

This little residential town has a little surprise for us as visitors! There is a mini theme park that features the famous fable story writer Anderson. There we can find many iconic features in Denmark, including the windmill and the mermaid. In 2019 when I visited the park, it is also close to the Valentine's day so they even have a heart shaped bouquet. A pity is that the day is cloudy so it is hard to take lovely photos.

Kawagoe, Saitama, Japan

Known as mini-Edo, this old town preserves many old buildings. One of the famous spot is the clocktower. The first time when I visited in 2017 it is under renovation. In 2018 when I visited again it is restored. The wood made clocktower makes it difficult to maintain and subject to fire. In the city one can find a lot of shops which has been passed through generations. There are some interesting new shops too, such as the Udon restaurant selling the lemon sauce udon, which is refreshing for summer.

Choshi, Chiba, Japan

This little town is at the far east of Japan. It is so close to the Pacific Ocean that it is one of the place to enjoy the "First Sunrise" in every new year. The city is connected by a one-car train which mostly operates once per hour. Most people living there are retired or fishermen. The town has a lot of places related to the ocean, including a large ocean museum. Certainly there are many restaurants offering fresh seafood.
