I am a molecular biologist with a focus on RNA expression.
I study human gene expression, sex differences, placenta across gestation, and immune changes before/during pregnancy. I work with Dr Margareta Pisarska in the OB/GYN department.
Wet lab work: I optimize sample processing from leftover blood or biopsy tissue, create protocols and train staff for big data projects, and oversee sample quality control before sequencing.
Dry lab work: I perform downstream bioinformatics analysis on bulk and single cell RNA-seq, DNA methylation, and other datasets. I perform statistical testing, summarize results, merge datasets for multiomics analysis, and visualize results. I primarily code in R and bash, sometimes Python, and very infrequently Perl.
