A: Science After Dark is a free, family-friendly Halloween-themed science event hosted by the Physical Sciences Department at Suffolk County Community College. A: No registration is required and there is no entrance fee — just show up and join the fun!
A: Everyone is welcome! This event is geared toward families and children of all ages, but curious minds of all ages will find something fun to explore.
A: This event is weather permitting, please check the website on Thursday, October 17th after 4:00 to ensure the event has not been rescheduled for it's rain-date of October 24th.
A: You can arrive anytime during the event! Activities will be running continuously, so feel free to come and go as you like. Please keep in mind that most astronomical observing will take place after sunset.
A: Costumes are highly encouraged for kids and adults alike! We love to see creative, spooky, or science-themed outfits. Please avoid overly scary or gory costumes, and remember that this is a family-friendly event—no weapons or costume props that could be mistaken for real ones.
A: The event will be held in the Smithtown Science Building and Babylon Student Center at Suffolk County Community College's Ammerman Campus. For more information about the event space or how to get there, visit our Getting There page. We’ll also have signs and volunteers to help guide you.

A: There will be sweet treats, but we recommend eating dinner beforehand.
A: Yes, all activity areas and restrooms are wheelchair accessible.
A: Yes! Strollers are welcome. Most activity areas are stroller-friendly, though some spaces may be more easily navigated without one during busy periods.
