What relevant qualifications/ experience?

University level qualifications in Education, Physics and Secondary Science.

5+ years Secondary teaching in Science from 7-12, including general Science studies and HSC Physics.

You're a bit pricier than some available tutors. Why is that?

I offer a high value tailored product - a premium product for a premium price. Fees are only calculated of face to face time except in extraordinary circumstances (by previous agreement).

My son/daughter keeps telling me you work on Science writing. Why when I'm not paying for English tuition?

The pinnacle demonstration of knowledge is clear communication. Not only are the strategies I teach central to Science learning and communication, they will also assist pupils demonstrating their knowledge in line with HSC level assessment. If this is an issue, please feel free to discuss different goals.

Why are you interested in their school and teacher? I don't want you contacting them.

Each classroom has different strategies for teaching Science and Physics. My goal is to not unnecessarily repeat what has been done, but my intention is to remediate and extend on what's happening in the classroom. Knowing this information helps.

If in the course of tutoring I feel that contacting school teachers is pertinent, consent will be sought first. Please remember that most school teachers support, and sometimes advise, additional tutoring.

We are interested in group tutoring. Do you offer this service?

Group tutoring is available if you have a small group in mind. This can assist reducing the cost of tutoring. Naturally this reduces the 'individual' nature of the tutoring as the time needs to be targeted as a whole group.

If I feel at some point that group needs/dynamics is reducing the value of the service I can offer, I will inform all parties so they can make an informed decision whether to continue group tutoring.

Can you tutor at school during study periods?

Possibly. This enquiry is best directed to the relevant school coordinator, as the school has the final say as to who can and cannot enter the school. Working With Children Check details and Child Protection Certificate can be supplied as required.

Once approved, timetabling and availability will need to be coordinated.

Is casual tutoring available?

Availability will vary, and precedence is always given to regular session bookings. This service may be useful for specific remediation of trouble Science/Physics topics.

You offer Physics tutoring... how about other Science disciplines.

Physics is my area of greatest expertise and experience. I could be of some assistance for Chemistry, Biology and Investigating Science, but have never implemented these syllabuses for the HSC. A casual booking may allow testing this ground. I will always declare when a specific content is outside my comfort/capability.
