I am playing around with different storage options for annexes. I am currently trying the WebDAV solution (with a Sciebo cloud). I created the new sibling successfully with the datalad create-sibling-webdav command, and removed it to try other modes for it.

After a datalad siblings remove -s uni-duesseldorf.sciebo.de-storage and a datalad siblings remove -s uni-duesseldorf.sciebo.de, all traces of the sibling seem to have disappeared from the configuration files.

However, when I try to recreate a sibling for the same WebDAV (with a datalad create-sibling-webdav), I get the following:

Registration

To set up access to sciebo, you have to register on the website The registration works automatically via the identity provider of University Duisburg-Essen with the login-ID (Unikennung) and your password. Registration only works with UDE main IDs. You cannot register with a secondary ID.

Guests

Employees can invite external users (e.g. from other universities that are not part of the sciebo program) to sciebo. These guests then get their own sciebo guest access and can use the sciebo client that way. Students can only share files with external users via a link.

First time linux user here, please bear with me. I need to install the sciebo desktop client on Garuda. For some strange reason, packages are available for all major linux operating systems except for Arch. So what I did is download the Debian package and build it with debtap; I deleted the qt5-dependencies from Debian and installed the qt5 package on Arch instead. It works without any problems to build the respective .pkg.tar.zst files and install them with pacman. The sciebo client works fine and synchronizes correctly. Unfortunately, neither the synchronization icons nor the right-click option to copy a download link to the clipboard work. They should come from sciebo-client-overlays-icons and sciebo-client-dolphin, respectively. I have double-checked that these packages are installed. Does anyone of you know what I did wrong?

As I pointed out in the last paragraph, owncloud does not have dolphin integration either; the optional dependencies are for nautilus, nemo and caja, respectively. sciebo itself works great, the only problem is dolphin integration. So either I use sciebo, which I got working smoothly by using debtap, and do not have dolphin integration, or I use owncloud, which works fine, and I do not have dolphin integration. In any case, though, I do not have dolphin integration. But this is what I need.

sciebo - a neologism of science and box - is a cloud storage service by and for universities in NRW that enables the storage, sharing and synchronization of university-related data. The special feature: Unlike commercial providers, the data is processed exclusively by the universities themselves and strictly in accordance with the German Data Protection Act. This service can be used by students and employees.

For employees:

To use this service, a personal e-mail address must be stored in the PEVZ.

Official data must be stored primarily on the university's network drives. Data with a high protection requirement may not be stored in sciebo. Further regulations result from the IT security guideline for cloud storage.

Which data may be stored in sciebo results from the IT security policy for cloud storage. Questions, for example, about the protection requirements, can be answered by the decentralized IT supervision or the IT security officer.

sciebo does not have a backup of the data, i.e. the data stored here is not secured by the continuous creation of backup copies. However, the storage systems are very well protected against data loss by technical measures. Data that you have accidentally overwritten or deleted yourself can usually be restored via the recycle bin in the web interface or on your local system, or via the versioning function. However, this level of protection is not comparable to a classic backup. Not least for this reason, official data should continue to be stored primarily on the university's network drives. Data requiring a high level of protection may only be stored on these network drives. Further regulations result from the IT security policy for cloud storage.

The most common cause is that staff, people with whom the data is to be shared, have registered but have not yet made an initial registration on the web interface ( -bielefeld.sciebo.de).

Only with this registration the account is activated in Sciebo.

Guest accounts can be created via the my.sciebo portal. The guests are entered with an e-mail address. This is only possible with addresses that do not belong to one of the participant institutions (e.g. @uni-bielefeld.de, @uni-muenster.de). Detailed instructions can be found on the sciebo help page.

sciebo ist ein nichtkommerzieller, kostenloser Cloud-Speicher fr Forschung und Lehre. Er wird von mehreren Hochschulen in NRW gemeinsam betrieben und vom Land NRW gefrdert. Der Cloud-Dienst steht exklusiv den Mitgliedern der Teilnehmerhochschulen zur Verfgung. Bevor Sie Daten in die Speichercloud stellen, beachten Sie bitte die Richtlinie fr die Verwendung des Cloud-Speicherdienstes "sciebo" an der Fachhochschule Sdwestfalen (Policy).

Da bei sciebo keine zentrale Datenspiegelung oder Datensicherung erfolgt, ist jede/r Nutzer/in selbst fr die Datensicherung der Daten verantwortlich. sciebo richtet sich exklusiv an Studierende und Beschftigte der Teilnehmerhochschulen. Jedem sciebo-User stehen 30 Gigabyte Speicherplatz zur Verfgung, fr Forschungsprojekte kann auch deutlich mehr beantragt werden.

Immer wieder gibt es Probleme, dass Nutzer nicht gefunden werden, wenn man mit ihnen Daten teilen mchte. Die hufigste Ursache ist die, dass die Anwender sich

zwar registriert haben, aber dass keine erstmalige Anmeldung am Sciebo-Web-Interface unter beispielsweise -bochum.sciebo.de/login erfolgt ist.

sciebo ist ein Cloud-Speicherdienst, der von der Westflischen Wilhelms-Universitt Mnster betrieben und staatlich anerkannten Hochschulen und Forschungseinrichtungen in NRW zu Zwecken von Forschung, Lehre und Hochschulverwaltung angeboten wird. An der FernUni knnen Forschende, Lehrende, Mitarbeitende und Studierende den Dienst auf freiwilliger Basis nutzen. sciebo ist datenschutzkonform und kann kostenlos unter Beachtung der Nutzungsrichtlinien verwendet werden.

Bitte beachten Sie, Sie mssen sich auch dann fr sciebo freischalten lassen, wenn Sie bereits vor dem Stichtag 08.12.2020 bei sciebo registriert waren. In diesem Fall ist nur noch eine Freischaltung ber das Webformular, jedoch keine erneute Registrierung erforderlich.

Fr die Nutzung von sciebo ist eine einmalige Registrierung in einem sogenannten Self-Enrollment-Portal notwendig. Sie finden den Link zur Registrierungsseite unter Menue "Registrierung". Whlen Sie im Dropdown-Men aus der Liste "FernUniversitt in Hagen" aus und Sie werden auf die Shibboleth-Seite der FernUni umgeleitet.

In der Anmeldemaske geben Sie bitte Ihren FernUni-Benutzernamen und Ihr Kennwort ein. Studierende geben hier ihre Matrikelnummer mit einem vorangestellten "q" als Benutzernamen und ihr Kennwort ein. Die Auswahlboxen "Anmeldung nicht speichern" und "Attributfreigabe ..." brauchen nicht ausgewhlt werden. Mit Ihrer Anmeldung besttigt der Shibboleth-Dienst der FernUni Ihre FernUni-Mitgliedschaft und Identitt gegenber sciebo. Sie mssen lediglich die Einwilligungserklrung zur Datenbermittlung an sciebo besttigen. Ihr FernUni-Kennwort wird nicht an den sciebo-Provider bermittelt.

Auf der sciebo-Seite werden Sie aufgefordert ein eigenes Kennwort fr sciebo einzugeben. Aus Sicherheitsgrnden empfehlen wir, dass Sie hier ein anderes Kennwort als Ihr FernUni-Kennwort whlen. Nach der Registrierung sind Sie noch nicht automatisch im sciebo-Bereich der FernUni angemeldet.

Nutzen Sie dazu Ihren FernUni-Benutzernamen mit der Ergnzung @fernuni-hagen.de und Ihr sciebo-Kennwort. Benutzername ist hier der FernUni-Accountname bei Beschftigten und "q" + Matrikelnummer bei Studierenden. Ihr Kennwort haben Sie whrend der Registrierung selbst festgelegt.
