You may notice I'm only focusing on two policies, and while that may seem like a little, it's actually quite a lot. Because unlike some of the other candidates policies, these are actually achievable with the power I would have in the Senate. With your signature and vote, I can make these happen. That's a promise.
You don't have to be sick to need a day off. Mental health among students–specifically college student–is immensely important. Several schools have already implemented this program into their regular academic schedule and seen an extremely positive reaction to it from their student body.
I lost my last election by 13 votes, but I didn't let that stop me. With the help of a few sentors, I was able to research, draft, and pass my Wellness Day Policy at the end of last semester. Now it's on administrations desk, but it doesn't stop there. I'll be working to develope an action plan to make sure that my policy actually gets implemented, becuase I know how important mental health is to students here on campus.
As a sitting member of the Committe of Equity and Title IX, it's my job to investigate why there is a staffing shortage, and if there is anything that AUSG can do to ensure proper staffing in the future.
I will also be researching their policy surrounding response and investigation time. What I find will determine how I approach new policy in the future, I promise to keep students up to date on any conclusions I may find and what steps I will take to drafting policy.
