Local Transportation

Champaign-Urbana has a relatively well-developed bus system, run by MTD. Local fares are generally $1 for a one-way ride, but boarding at stops on/near campus (called "I-stops" and marked in orange on the bus stop sign) is free. You can pay one-way fares either in cash or via the Token Transit app. Please note that it is not possible to get change for fares paid in cash.

You can find bus schedules on the MTD website. Google maps uses real-time bus position data from MTD, so it is a relatively reliable way to plan travel via bus.
