Free Resources
Below are links to helpful, free resources to use during the class. I took this class with Dr. Bennett during the Fall 2022 semester. Here is some advice for ISEN 350:
The first three weeks go over more conceptual topics on Lean and the Toyota Productions system, but do not fall into the trap of slacking off because the class will pick up with a lot of computational problems.
The best way to master control charts is to understand the definition differences between the sigma values for each type of variable. If you get these straight, then it will be easy to know when to apply which for a specific control chart.
Know when you need to divide by the square root of a sample size and when the problem does not require it!
Practice Tests ($23.42 each)
All practice tests include a blank, fillable copy of the test and an answer key with explanations on how to find the correct solution. The answer key will explain each of the problems thoroughly in an easy to understand way.
ISEN 350 Exam 1 Practice Test
Includes problems on the statistical definitions of variance/ expected values, binomial and negative binomial distributions, famous people in quality engineering, Toyota Production System terms, one-tail and two-tail hypothesis tests.
ISEN 350 Exam 2 Practice Test–Version A
Includes problems on the creation of an S chart for a manufacturing process, capability analysis, finding Ppk and Cpm, determining the fallout of a process, Z bench values, the relationship between SQL and sigma level, statistical changes when centering the process, and probability of detecting shifts in the process using control charts.
ISEN 350 Exam 2 Practice Test–Version B
Includes problems on x & R chart analysis, alpha risk, control limits given a type 1 error, finding the number of defects given a sigma quality level, mean and standard deviation of the run length, potential and actual capability analysis, creating a 3 sigma control chart from a sampling plan, hand calculating X bar, X double bar, and S, and creating an R control chart.
