Overarching Competency # 1: Communication
Throughout my project, I have seen growth in my leadership regarding communication. I have been able to identify the best modes to communicate with others. I have grown more confident in taking these conversations and relaying them to the places that will make the most difference for these educators and extend the dialogue.

Overarching Competency # 2: Interpersonal Effectiveness
I feel I have made growth in this competency. In speaking with others regarding their concerns I have noticed others being inspired to work towards a shared vision and solution. These discussions are meaningful because of the level of trust that has been built over the last year. I am excited to continue working towards finding a solution to help retain quality educators over the next school year, too.

Foundational Competency-Diversity, Equality, and Cultural Competence:
Explore and Challenge Inequity
During my work for my Capstone project, I have seen the importance of exploring and challenging inequity. By holding interviews and conversations with diverse audiences I was able hear concerns that would not have necessarily applied to my personal situation. The diversity assignments in TLI reminded me of the importance of pulling in people from different backgrounds and experiences to help me grow as a leader in my community.

Leadership Pathway Competency: Association - Organizational Effectiveness: Leading with Vision
When I began my Capstone project I was emerging with my leadership skills regarding this pathway. I feel that I am making progress becoming more comfortable speaking to members of my union and sharing concerns of educators in my district in part because I have a clear vision to follow myself. Being able to brainstorm ideas that our union could use to help address these concerns has been beneficial. I look forward to seeing if a potential committee might be formed to help educators be able to have a voice.

Feedback from the Billings Education Association President.
The most valuable part of the TLI process for me was the connections I was able to make with my colleagues, other TLI Cohort members across the state, and members of my union. I am confident that these connections will be beneficial as I continue to grow as a leader. I was not able to wrap up my Capstone project in a year, but I know these relationships will be helpful in the years to come.
As I continue to grow as a teacher leader I plan to become more involved with the Billings Education Association. I have reached out to our President to join two more committees. I am considering applying for the Elementary School Director position on the Union Board when it becomes available. I plan to continue speaking and listening to colleagues regarding their concerns and helping move towards solutions that create a better environment for educators. I know that my Capstone Challenge has not yet been completely met. However, I feel like it has opened a dialogue that can lead to meaningful change in the future.
