Chiao Research Group

Dr. Sen Chiao is a professor in the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies at Howard University. He is also the PI and the Director of the NOAA Cooperative Science Center in Atmospheric Sciences and Meteorology (NCAS-M). His main research interests focus on understanding weather and climate extremes increased frequency, duration, and intensity driven by climate change. The goal of Dr. Chiao's research is to advance our understanding of fundamental science in the areas of weather and climate, hydrometeorology, and their linkages to global climate change. Research activities within Dr. Chiao's group are conducted using many different methods striving to achieve high standards of rigor, depth, and completeness.

Courses taught by Dr. Chiao in the past include Remote Sensing for Meteorology, Atmospheric Remote Sensing, Marine Meteorology, Numerical Weather Prediction, Mesoscale Meteorology, Intro. to Environmental Flow Modeling, and Planetary Boundary Layer Meteorology, Weather Analysis and Forecasting, Weather Briefing, and Dynamics Meteorology, Global Climate Change, Weather and Climate.

Dr. Chiao is constantly looking for energetic, creative people at all levels (undergraduate, graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and visiting scientists) to join his research group. If you are interested in Dr. Chiao's research work, please email sen.chiao@howard.edu.
