Step 1: An Intro to Email

  • Open your Gmail Inbox and take a screenshot of what it currently looks like.

  • Place a copy of this image on the right side page and fit it inside the box by clicking on “Insert - Image” in the menu.

Place a copy of your current inbox in the box on the Template.

Step 2: Create a Gmail Label

  • Create a new Gmail Label called “Google Classroom Emails” by clicking on the “+” next to the Labels header on the left column of Gmail.

  • After creating your Google Classroom Emails” label, click on the three dots to the right of the label and change the color.

  • Take a screenshot of ONLY your Gmail Label and place a copy of this image below by clicking on “Insert - Image” in the menu.

Step 3: Create a Gmail Filters

  • Create a new filter that automatically creates a label called “Google Classroom Emails” when an email from no-reply@classroom.google.com arrives in your inbox. Start by clicking on the icon in Gmail that looks like the image on the top right of this page.

Click on the Filter button on the top of your Gmail inbox. This is the button on the RIGHT SIDE of the image below.

In the "From" section, type "no-reply@classroom.google.com"

Then click on the button that says "Create Filter"

Click “Create Filter” and then make sure that your emails are attached to the label by clicking “Apply Label” and adding your Google Classroom label. 

Click the bottom button that says “Also apply filter to matching conversations.”

Then click “Create Filter on the BLUE BUTTON on the bottom right.

After creating your filter, open the Gmail Settings by clicking on the “Gear”

Then “See All Settings”

Under the tab that says “Filters and Blocked Addresses, copy your filter and paste in the space to the right.

Take a screenshot in your Gmail Settings of this area that shows that you have created the filter.

Step 4: Create a professional Email Signature and add it to your Gmail

In Gmail - Settings, create a professional email signature that shows the following

  • Your first and last name

  • Your team (example 7 Yellow)

  • Your School (Schaghticoke Middle School)

Remember to adjust the drop down buttons to reflect your new email signature and then click the SAVE button on the bottom of the Settings screen.

When finished, take a photo of your email signature in the Gmail Settings and paste it in the box on the right.



Step 5: Create an Email with Attachments to be sent at a later time.

  • Write a draft of an email to Mr. Bradbury.  Add a professional looking Subject line and a simple email. (Do NOT send the email)

  • Add an attachment from Google Drive.

  • Click on the “Schedule Send” button and take a screenshot. (Do NOT send the email)
