Holidays & Sick Leave

As found in Section 9.1 SICK LEAVE in our Professional Agreement: (please refer to your Professional Agreement for COMPLETE contract language)

Full-Time twelve month Employees receive fifteen (15) sick days per year of which two (2) may be used as Personal Days.**

Part-Time employees (scheduled to work more than 600 hours per year) receive thirteen (13) sick days per year on a prorated basis year of which two (2) may be used as Personal Days.** Unused sick leave may be accumulated from year to year without limitation. The District may require a physician’s statement as a condition for payment of sick leave upon reasonable belief that sick leave is being abused or for absences in excess of three (3) consecutive days.

Sick leave shall be granted for personal illness, quarantine at home and additional days beyond bereavement leave for death of members of the immediate family or household. The immediate family for purposes of this section shall include: an individual with any of the following relationships to the employee:

  1. Spouse, and parents thereof:
  2. Sons and daughters, and spouses thereof:
  3. Parents, and spouses thereof:
  4. Brothers and sisters, and spouses thereof:
  5. Grandparents and grandchildren, and spouses thereof:
  6. Any individual related by blood or affinity whose close association with the employee is the equivalent of a family relationship.

*Note: Not all relationships listed are covered under FMLA.

**Employees with a balance of thirty (30) or more sick days on the July 1 prior to the start of the school year, three (3) of the above sick leave days, at full pay, may be used for personal business. In no event shall personal leave be taken contiguous to a holiday or other scheduled non-working weekday.

†The floating holiday cannot be used on the Teacher’s Institute or School Improvement Day that is designated as a training day. (See your Professional Agreement Section 7.3 D)
