IEA was successful in getting the Illinois Unemployment Insurance Act changed to allow non-instructional education employees (ESP’s) that do not work all year to be able to file for unemployment insurance between school terms. House Bill 2455 passed the General Assembly at the end of May and the Governor has signed it to make it effective for this year only. The folder contains the IEA HB2455 Fact Sheet, an information sheet from the Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES), the IDES Claim Process, and an additional note on completing the application. IEA highly encourages all that are now eligible to apply as this legislation is intended to assist those that do not work in the summer during this pandemic and uncertain time.
