He is an associate professor in the College of Art and Design at Ewha Womans University, where he teaches in the Media Arts and Technology Graduate Program (as Chair) and the Painting major (concurrent appointment). His primary research interests include contemporary philosophy centered on Gilles Deleuze's thought, and the relationships between philosophy, art, and technology.
His publications include On the Blue Evenings—A Cartography of Contemporary French Aesthetics; Deleuze and the Monster; and Either Machine or Life (in Korean). He has also translated Deleuze's The Fold: Leibniz and the Baroque into Korean.
He graduated from Seoul National University with a degree in Electrical Engineering and received his master's degree in Philosophy from the same university's graduate school. He completed his master's degree in Film Studies at Université Lumière-Lyon 2 in France and earned his Ph.D. in Philosophy from École Normale Supérieure de Lyon.
