Community Survey

The City of Santa Clara is excited to be planning for the revitalization of our Downtown. Over the course of the last year, the City and the Downtown Community Task Force have solicited community input and crafted and refined a “framework plan” for achieving the community vision for a vibrant, pedestrian-oriented Downtown. We look to you now to understand how well you think we have captured your ideas. Second, we are looking for your feedback on the types of streets, public spaces, and activities that you would like to see in Downtown Santa Clara. This survey will take 10 minutes of your time.

THREE CONCEPTS

In the summer of 2020, three potential development patterns for a future downtown were presented. You can find detailed information on each of them by clicking on the images below.

WHAT WE HEARD

Community members weighed in on those concepts, and described their vision for downtown. The feedback we received is summarized below. A more detailed summary can be found here: https://www.santaclaraca.gov/home/showpublisheddocument/70397/637387048436370000

DOWNTOWN FRAMEWORK

The refined framework for downtown is presented here. We start with the foundation of a restored street grid and new public spaces. Then we add the "essential land use" pattern of catalyst uses (pink), ground-floor retail (red), and retail-ready space (salmon). Then we add building form. We recognize that buildings above the ground floor may be flexible, resulting in building form, within a range established by the plan.
