All secondary students are required to acquire at least 75 hours of community service in order to receive a high school diploma.
We suggest that students divide those hours as follows:
Grade 9 - 15 hours
Grade 10 - 20 hours
Grade 11 - 20 hours
Grade 12 - 20 hours
SCCA will assist students in obtaining those hours as often as possible. Hours earned during a school sponsored activity do not require a letter or any outside documentation. The SCCA staff will keep a record of hours and submit it to the student's community service record.
To receive credit for community service hours earned outside of those arranged with Star City Christian Academy, students must obtain a letter from the organization stating the number of hours earned, a summary of activities completed to earn those hours, and the name and contact information of the organization. The letter must include the name, signature, and contact information of the person who supervised the student. A parent signature is not acceptable.
