Smart and Connected Communities:
Technological Foundations, Challenges and Opportunities
SCC-2018
Program Schedule
Saturday, January 6, 2018
4:00 - 5:30 pm SCC/ICDCN Panel
Panel Theme: Smart Cities: From Rhetoric to Reality
Description: The infusion of communication, information and sensing technologies to create smart communities is transforming the way in which citizens interact with one another and with the environment. While smart communities offer great promise to promote social wellbeing and quality of life, significant challenges must be addressed at the intersection of technology, policy and society to make smart communities a reality. This panel will discuss the potential and promises of smart community technologies, the extent to which we have been able to deliver on these promises, the challenges ahead, and (un)successful attempts at implementing transformations.
Moderators: Gurdip Singh (Syracuse Univ) and Subhankar Dhar (San Jose State Univ.)
Panelists:
