??? Step into the eerie embrace of the Denver Museum of Nature and Science this Halloween season, where the creatures of the night come to life! From egg-stealing predators to hair-raising howlers, this list surely has some of the most popular scary animals in pop culture.

1. Create a microphone track and place it right in the middle of the 3D Space. Choose the number of channels of the mic according to the system you want to play the soundscape with.

2. Create a stereo audio track and import the sound of an ambience with rain and wind. Place both particles further away from the microphone (e.g. half a mile to the back and to the sides).

3. Create a mono audio track and place it centered with the microphone, and set its y distance to half a mile. Import a low rumble sound.

4. Create a particle group with 50 particles, change it to a rectangle and set the depth and width to one mile. Import the sound of owls. Add a Random Delay between one and two minutes and a Random Pitch of 5 semitones up and down.

5. Duplicate the Owl track (delete the owl audio file you imported) and import a few ambiences with thunders. Delete the Random Pitch and add a Random Gain of 12 dB. Set the Start Time to 7 seconds.

6. Add a Particle Emitter with a rate of 0.33 and a duration of 100 seconds. Increase the Main Radius to half a mile, import the sound of a church bell and add a small Random Delay (E.g. half a second). Set the Start time to 40 seconds.

7. Add the Rotating Ring preset, change the radius to half a mile and import sounds of cinematic wooshes, rises, etc. Set the Start Time to 55 seconds.

8. Grab files of people whispering (10 to 20), reverse them and add reverb using a DAW. Go back to your project and add a battlefield preset and change the number of particles to 30. Add the whispers you edited/modified and set the Start Time 40 seconds.

9. Duplicate the whispers track (delete the reversed whispers files) and import the original non-reversed whispers files. Change the Start Time slightly so that they don't start exactly at the same time. Recreate/re-randomize the particles of this track.

10. Render everything and adjust the individual volume of the tracks.

11. Enjoy :)

Trevor: It's our job, as sound designers, to be imaginative, and so sometimes there are things that inherently don't work because they don't have sounds, and there are some things that already work, they just need to be enhanced. It's really interesting when you get a turnover of a new picture that does not have final sound. Every film is different, but when I watch something, I'm hearing the composition of what I need to do as I'm watching it. It's my job to realize what I'm hearing in my head, for the audience.

Trevor: When you're watching a movie, what's really scary is when something is very quiet, and the audience is drawn into the scary movie, and then all of a sudden there's a big bang, and we do a jump scare [audience scream SFX], and it puts people back in their seats. What's important is the juxtaposition of the quiet to the loudness.

On Ouija: Origin of Evil, directed by Mike Flanagan, most of the film happens in a house, in a front room. When I was building a soundscape for Mike, I sat him down and said, "Hey, Mike. I never see a clock in this room, but I built a clock for you, and I want you to listen to it, and I want you to see how it makes you feel."

Dan: My research really tries to look for generalizations, by identifying generalizations on how we respond or how animals respond to certain sounds, we can gain insights into why we respond the way we do.

Dan: Animals are really sensitive to other sounds in their environment... The sound of a broken stick [breaking stick SFX] means that something is walking towards you. A creaking floor is like a broken stick. It's a cue that someone else is out there, and if someone else is out there, you're going to look around and pay attention to that.

Subtle sounds, like a raptor jiggling a door handle in Jurassic Park [door handle jiggle SFX], trigger something primal in our brains that give us a jolt of fear so we take action and become aware of our surroundings.

The specific sound composition... was a combination of underwater sounds [underwater SFX], some weird water bugs that created some movement on the high frequency spectrum [water bug SFX]. It was a low pulse that was built from a low frequency tone [low pulse ton SFX], and modulated through a tool that I use. Then Chris' screams, and we recorded screams for him, and then I processed them to make them feel like they were distant, and that you could barely hear them. When we played it all together, Jordan said he was terrified, and that was a win at that point.

Halloween Sounds and Background Ambiance that includes 1 Full Hour of Werewolves Howling, Witches Cackling, Women and Men Screaming, and other creepy sounds that you would expect to hear on Halloween. Have a Happy Halloween!!

This year i am hoping to do the lighting and sounds on a bigger scale using HA to trigger a scene of flashing lights in various colours across entire room, then sounds to come from the Alexa speaker in the room.

i have the bruh/dr zzs leds around my facia of the house so they will be on halloween setting, and when somone activtes the line crossing on my hikvision it will turn to lightning mode, i will also have some skeleton in my car with flashing lights that activate on the line crossing too.

sounds good, how are you getting sound onto the alexa device? I have a raspberry pi with sound files on i was trying to bluetooth to an echo. However so far this has been intermittent success, sometimes works great, other times i get a bluetooth connection error. (using built in bluetooth on a RPi Zero W)

Bring the Halloween fun inside your home with a chilling Chime tone. From creaking doors to cackling witches, there are plenty of scary sounds to select from. Here are some examples:
