Please read these Terms of Use ("Terms") carefully before downloading, installing, accessing, or using the App.
By accessing or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the App.
ScanReader is a PDF scanning, OCR (Optical Character Recognition), and document editing application designed to help users digitize, edit, organize, and manage documents using their mobile device.
Features may include:
Scanning documents and images using device camera
OCR text extraction from images and PDFs
PDF editing (text, annotations, highlights, drawings)
PDF merge, split, and conversion
Image enhancement (crop, rotate, adjust brightness and contrast)
Document and file management
ScanReader processes all documents locally on your device. Your documents are not uploaded to our servers unless explicitly required for specific features you actively choose to use.
By using the App, you represent and warrant that:
You are at least 13 years old, or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction.
If you are under the age of majority, your parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.
You have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement.
You will comply with all applicable laws and regulations.
ScanReader does not require account registration.
You are not required to provide:
Name
Email address
Phone number
Password
The App may use device identifiers to provide services and manage local data storage.
Because no account exists:
We may not be able to recover your documents or data if the App is deleted.
We may not be able to restore your documents if your device is lost, replaced, or reset.
You are responsible for backing up your documents and maintaining any security settings available on your device.
We recommend exporting and saving important documents to external storage or cloud services.
ScanReader requires access to device camera and storage to provide its core functionality.
By using the App, you acknowledge and agree that:
Camera Access
The App may access your device camera to:
Capture images of documents, receipts, whiteboards, or other physical materials
Scan QR codes or barcodes (if applicable)
Camera access is only used at the moment you actively initiate a scan. The App does not access the camera in the background or without user action.
Storage Access
The App may access your device storage to:
Save scanned documents and PDFs
Import images and files for processing
Export processed documents
Storage access is only used when you actively choose to save, import, or export files.
User Control
You may revoke camera or storage permissions at any time through device settings. Disabling permissions may limit or disable App functionality.
You retain full ownership of all documents, images, and content you scan, upload, import, or process using the App ("Your Content").
By using the App, you acknowledge and agree that:
Local Processing
All scanning, OCR, and document processing is performed locally on your device unless explicitly stated otherwise. Your Content is not transmitted to our servers unless required for specific features that you actively choose to use.
No Data Collection
We do not collect, store, or access Your Content. We do not use Your Content for any purpose other than providing the functionality you request. We do not share, sell, or distribute Your Content to any third party.
User Responsibility
You are solely responsible for:
The content you scan and process
Ensuring you have the right to scan and process any documents
Complying with applicable laws regarding document handling and privacy
Backing up your documents
You may not use ScanReader for any unlawful or prohibited purpose, including but not limited to:
Scanning, processing, or distributing:
Counterfeit documents or currency
Forged identification
Illegal contracts or agreements
Copyrighted materials without permission
Fraudulent documents
Using the App to:
Violate any applicable laws or regulations
Infringe upon intellectual property rights
Engage in any illegal activity
Violation of this policy may result in suspension or termination of access and may be reported to applicable authorities.
ScanReader uses OCR technology to extract text from images and PDFs.
You acknowledge and agree that:
Accuracy Limitations
OCR results may be:
inaccurate
incomplete
incorrectly formatted
affected by image quality
dependent on handwriting legibility
ScanReader does not guarantee 100% accuracy of OCR results.
Manual Review Recommended
You are responsible for:
Reviewing and verifying OCR results before use
Correcting any errors in extracted text
Ensuring the accuracy of any documents you rely upon
User Responsibility
OCR results are provided on an "as is" basis. You should not rely solely on OCR results for:
Legal documents
Medical records
Financial statements
Official submissions
Any other purpose requiring absolute accuracy
ScanReader may offer subscription plans, one-time purchases, or in-app purchases ("Paid Features").
By purchasing Paid Features, you agree to the following:
Payment Authorization
Payments are processed through the Apple App Store. You authorize Apple to charge the applicable payment method for all fees.
Subscription Terms
Subscriptions automatically renew unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You may manage subscriptions through your Apple ID account settings. Fees are non-refundable except as required by applicable law.
Free Trial
Any free trial period offered may be canceled at any time before the trial ends to avoid being charged. Trial terms are as presented at the time of offer.
Price Changes
We reserve the right to change pricing at any time. Price changes will not affect active subscriptions until the next renewal period. You will be notified of any price changes.
No Liability for Third-Party Fees
You are responsible for any fees charged by your mobile carrier, internet service provider, or any third party in connection with use of the App.
All intellectual property rights in the App, including but not limited to:
Software code
Design
Graphics
Trademarks
Text and content (excluding Your Content)
are owned by us or our licensors.
You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes.
You may not:
Copy, modify, or distribute the App
Reverse engineer or decompile the App
Create derivative works
Remove any proprietary notices
Use the App for any commercial purpose without our prior written consent
THE APP IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING:
Merchantability
Fitness for a particular purpose
Non-infringement
Accuracy or reliability of results
Uninterrupted or error-free operation
We do not warrant that:
The App will meet your requirements
OCR results will be accurate
The App will be compatible with all devices or operating systems
The App will be free of bugs, errors, or security vulnerabilities
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:
WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES.
THIS INCLUDES, WITHOUT LIMITATION:
Loss of data or documents
Loss of profits or revenue
Business interruption
Damage to reputation
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING FROM USE OF THE APP SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO US, IF ANY, DURING THE SIX (6) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100), WHICHEVER IS LESS.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages. In such jurisdictions, liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted by law.
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless ScanReader, its affiliates, and their respective officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any and all claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from:
Your use of the App
Your violation of these Terms
Your violation of any applicable laws or regulations
Your infringement of any third-party rights
Your Content
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the App at any time, without notice or liability, for any reason, including violation of these Terms.
Upon termination:
Your right to use the App will immediately cease
Any documents or data stored locally on your device remain your responsibility
We are not responsible for recovering or storing your documents
You may terminate these Terms by uninstalling the App.
We reserve the right to update or modify these Terms at any time.
Material changes will be communicated by:
Updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of these Terms
In-app notice (if feasible)
By continuing to use the App after changes become effective, you accept the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the revised Terms, you must stop using the App.
The App may integrate with or link to third-party services, including but not limited to:
Apple App Store
Device operating system services
Cloud storage services (if integrated)
We are not responsible for:
The privacy practices of third parties
The content or accuracy of third-party services
The availability or performance of third-party services
Any third-party terms or fees
Your interactions with third-party services are governed by their own terms and policies.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and disclose information.
By using the App, you consent to the practices described in the Privacy Policy.
We do not sell, share, or distribute your documents or personal data to third parties.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without appropriate parental authorization where required by law.
Parents who believe information has been collected improperly may contact us for review and deletion requests.
By using the App, you agree to receive notices and communications electronically, including through the App.
Electronic communications satisfy any legal requirement that communications be in writing.
You agree not to use the App in violation of:
United States export laws
Sanctions regulations
International trade restrictions
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which we operate, without regard to conflict of law principles.
We encourage you to contact us first if you have any concerns. Most disputes can be resolved informally.
If a dispute cannot be resolved informally, you agree to attempt to resolve it through binding arbitration or small claims court, as applicable.
You waive any right to participate in a class action or class-wide arbitration.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding use of the App.
They supersede all prior or contemporaneous communications, whether written or oral.
Any waiver of any provision of these Terms must be in writing and signed by us.
