I ("I," "me," or "my") built the Scanly app as a free application. This Service is provided at no cost and is intended for use as is.

This Privacy Policy explains how I collect, use, and protect personal information for users who choose to use my Service.
By using this Service, you agree to the practices described in this policy. I do not use or share your information with anyone except as stated here.

1. Information Collection and Use

To provide a better user experience, certain information may be collected. Some data may also be collected by trusted third-party services.

      1. vCard Information (Optional)

            If you choose to create a virtual card (vCard), you may provide:

•  Name

•  Email Address

•  Address

•  Phone Number

         Purpose:
          These details are stored securely on the server only to generate a shareable vCard link.
          They are:

• Not used for advertising

• Not shared with third parties

• Shared only when you choose to share your vCard

    2. Feedback

          When you submit bug reports or feedback through the app, you may voluntarily share:

• Your email address (optional)

• App screenshots (optional)

• Message content

           Purpose:
              Used only for:

• Bug fixing

• Communication related to your inquiry

 b. Information Collected Automatically

       1. Scan Data

• All QR and barcode scans are processed locally on your device except virtual card (vcard).

• Scan data is:

  • Not collected

  • Not stored

  • Not transmitted

      2. Device & Usage Information

            Collected to improve app performance and stability:

• App interactions

• Crash logs

• Diagnostics

• Device identifiers

     3. Precise Location (Temporary Use)

           Used only when performing the “Connect to Wi-Fi” action after scanning a Wi-Fi QR code:

• Processed ephemerally (temporarily in memory)

• Not stored

• Not saved

• Not shared

• Used only to complete the Wi-Fi connection

    4. Photos (Optional)

         If you import images from your gallery for scanning:

• Access is used only to read the selected image

• No photos are stored or uploaded to any server. 

         If you choose to attach screenshots or images while submitting feedback: 

• These screenshots are sent to me (the developer) via server for bug fixes and support purposes. 

• No other photos from your device are accessed or uploaded. 

2. Third-Party Services

The app uses trusted third-party services that may collect limited information.

 a. Advertising Service (Google AdMob)

       May collect:

• Device identifiers

• Product interactions 

• Diagnostic information 

• Approximate location (via IP address)

      Purpose:
            Used for advertising and basic analytics.

 b. Analytics Services (Firebase Analytics)

       May collect:

• Device identifiers

• Crash logs

• App interaction data

      Purpose:
            Used to understand app performance and fix issues.

3. How Your Information Is Used

• App Functionality: Scanning features and vCard generation

• Analytics: Improve performance and identify errors

• Developer Communication: Responding to user feedback

• Advertising: Displaying personalized or non-personalized ads

         I do not sell your personal information.

          Data may be shared only:

• With Service Providers: Such as trusted analytics or advertising partners

• For Legal Reasons: If required by law or government authorities

I use industry-standard methods to protect your information. All data sent to third-party services is encrypted in transit. However, no method of storage or transmission is 100% secure.

6. Children’s Privacy

This Service is not intended for children under 13. I do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

• No account is required

• You can disable ad personalization from your app settings

• You can manage location permissions

• You can manage photo permissions

• You can uninstall the app to stop all data collection immediately

8. GDPR Consent Form (EU Users)

         For users in the European Union (EU):

• A GDPR-compliant consent form will appear inside the app.

• You can choose whether to allow:

  • Personalized ads

  • Non-personalized ads

  • Analytics data collection

• You can manage or change your consent anytime from the in-app settings.

This ensures full compliance with GDPR, ePrivacy Directive, and Google consent requirements.

9. Data Retention & Deletion

• Automatically collected data is stored only as needed

• Support emails are retained only until your issue is resolved
