# Privacy Policy — Scanly: QR & Barcode Scanner
**Publisher:** Boonwiz
**App:** Scanly: QR & Barcode Scanner (`com.boonwiz.qr`)
**Effective date:** 2026-07-25
**Contact:** boonyboonapp@gmail.com
Boonwiz builds Scanly: QR & Barcode Scanner to do its job entirely on your device.
This policy explains, in plain language, what leaves your device and what never
does.
## The short version
- **No account. No login.** You never create an account or give us your identity.
- **Your content stays on your device.** Codes and images you open, create, or edit
in Scanly: QR & Barcode Scanner are processed on your device and are **never
uploaded, stored on our servers, or transmitted to us or anyone else**. We run no
backend for your content.
- **We show ads,** and to do that our advertising partners receive limited,
non-content technical data (see below). That is the only category of data that
leaves your device.
## Data that is processed only on your device — and never collected
Scanly: QR & Barcode Scanner accesses the following **on your device only** to
provide its features. This data is **not collected by us and not transmitted off
the device**:
- **Camera feed and scanned images** — decoded on device to read QR codes and barcodes. Frames are not stored or sent anywhere.
- **Scan history** — saved only in the app's local storage on your device.
## Data collected and shared for advertising, analytics, and diagnostics
To keep Scanly: QR & Barcode Scanner free, we show ads through advertising
mediation, and we use privacy-respecting analytics and crash reporting to keep the
app working. Through the third-party SDKs listed below, the following limited data
is collected and, for advertising, shared with advertising partners:
| Data type | Purpose | Shared with |
|---|---|---|
| Advertising ID and device identifiers | Serve and measure ads | Advertising / mediation partners |
| App interaction & in-app events (e.g. features used, ad impressions) | Advertising, analytics | Advertising / mediation partners; analytics provider |
| Diagnostics (crash logs, performance data) | App stability & functionality | Analytics / crash-reporting provider |
We do **not** sell your personal information. We do **not** collect your name,
email, contacts content, precise location, Codes and images, or the results of any
task you perform in the app.
**Data transmitted for the purposes above is encrypted in transit.**
### Third-party services we use
- **Google AdMob** (advertising) / Google Play services —
https://policies.google.com/privacy (our current and only advertising partner;
additional mediation partners would be listed here only if we enable mediation
in a future update)
- **Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, Remote Config** (Google) —
https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy
- **Google Play Billing** (for optional in-app purchases) —
https://policies.google.com/privacy
- **Google User Messaging Platform (UMP)** — consent management for ads.
On-device machine-learning features use **Google ML Kit on-device APIs**; the
images or text they process are analyzed locally and are not sent to Google or to
us. See https://developers.google.com/ml-kit/terms
## Consent and your choices (EEA/UK and similar regions)
Where required, on first launch we show a consent request (Google UMP) that lets
you choose whether ads are personalized. You can change this later in the app's
settings. Whatever you choose, the app's features work the same.
- **Reset your advertising ID** any time in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads.
This resets the identifier used for advertising.
- **Remove ads entirely** with the one-time in-app "Remove Ads" purchase (where
offered); entitled users see zero ads and no ad-related identifiers are used
for advertising.
## Permissions this app requests
- **Camera** — to scan codes with the camera. Only while you are scanning.
- **Photos (Photo Picker)** — only the single image you pick to scan from your gallery.
- **Notifications** — optional, for non-intrusive app messages.
We request only the permissions needed for features you use, and we prefer the
Android Photo Picker and scoped access so the app touches only what you select.
## Children
Scanly: QR & Barcode Scanner is not directed to children under 13, and we do not
knowingly collect data from children. The app is rated for a general/teen audience.
## Data retention and deletion
We do not hold your content — it never leaves your device, so there is nothing on
our side to delete. For the limited advertising/analytics/diagnostics data
described above: reset your advertising ID to sever the advertising identifier,
and contact us at boonyboonapp@gmail.com for any deletion request relating to
diagnostics data. Uninstalling the app removes all app data from your device.
## Changes to this policy
If we change what data is collected (for example, adding an SDK), we will update
this policy and its effective date before the change ships. Material changes are
reflected in the app's next update notes.
