This Privacy Policy explains how ScanLab ("ScanLab", the "App", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, stores, processes, and discloses information when you use the App.
ScanLab is an all-in-one smart toolkit that allows users to scan QR codes and barcodes, measure distance/height/area/room spaces, extract text from images via OCR, translate text into 40+ languages, and manage 2FA verification codes and secure credentials using their mobile device camera.
Because ScanLab does not require account registration, information is generally associated with your device rather than a user account.
By downloading, installing, accessing, or using the App, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy.
If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, please do not use the App.
1.1 Camera and Photos
Camera access is the core functionality of ScanLab.
With your permission, ScanLab may access your device camera to:
Capture QR codes, barcodes, and secure codes for scanning
Measure distance, height, area, and room spaces using AR technology
Capture images for OCR text extraction
Capture images for translation purposes
With your permission, ScanLab may access your device photo library to:
Import existing images for OCR text extraction and translation
Save scanned results or images back to your photo library (if applicable)
Camera and photo access is only used at the moment you actively initiate a capture or import. The App does not access your camera or photo library in the background or without user action.
Users may revoke camera or photo permissions at any time through device settings.
1.2 Storage Access
With your permission, ScanLab may access your device storage to:
Save scan history, measurements, and 2FA data locally on your device
Cache recognition and measurement results for faster loading
Storage access is only used when you actively save or view your data.
1.3 Device Information
We may collect:
Device model
Device type
Operating system version
Unique device identifiers (such as IDFV)
Language settings
Time zone settings
IP address
Network status
This information helps us operate, optimize, and secure the App.
1.4 Your Content (Images You Capture)
We take your privacy seriously.
Images you capture or upload for scanning, measurement, OCR, or translation are processed and then immediately discarded. We do not store, retain, or access the images you scan using the App, except as described below:
Temporary Processing: Images are transmitted to our recognition/measurement/OCR/translation service solely for the purpose of providing results. Once processing is complete, the image is not retained on our servers.
Scan History: Thumbnails of your scanned images, measurement data, and OCR results are stored locally on your device only (not on our servers) for your reference in the History feature.
We do not use your images for any purpose other than providing the service you request.
1.5 2FA and Secure Codes Data
ScanLab may store 2FA verification codes and secure credentials locally on your device. This data is:
Stored locally on your device only
Not transmitted to our servers
Not accessible to us or any third party
Your responsibility to back up
1.6 Usage Information
We may collect information regarding:
Feature usage (which tools you use most often: scanning, measurement, OCR, translation, 2FA)
App performance
Crash reports
Diagnostic information
This information helps us improve reliability, accuracy, and user experience.
1.7 Recognition and Measurement Data
We may collect anonymized, aggregated usage data (such as which features are most frequently used, measurement ranges, common scan types) to improve our services. This data is de-identified and cannot be linked back to you or your device.
We use information to:
Provide scanning functionality for QR codes, barcodes, and secure codes
Deliver accurate measurement results (distance, height, area, room spaces)
Provide OCR text extraction and translation services
Manage and display 2FA verification codes and secure credentials (locally on your device)
Save and display your scan history, measurements, and OCR results (locally on your device)

ScanLab does not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
We do not share your images, scan data, measurement data, or 2FA data with any third party for their own purposes.
No Account System
Because ScanLab does not use accounts, information is generally associated with your device.
If you uninstall the App, reset your device, or lose your device, your scan history, measurement data, and 2FA data may become permanently unavailable.
Storage Location
Images: Captured images are transmitted to our recognition/measurement/OCR/translation service for processing and then immediately discarded. They are not stored on our servers.
Scan History, Measurements, and 2FA Data: Your data (thumbnails, results, measurements, 2FA codes) is stored locally on your device by default.
Device Information: Collected locally and transmitted for analytics purposes in anonymized form.
If certain cloud-based features (such as cloud backup of history) are offered in the future, such features will be optional and subject to additional consent.
Retention Period
Images: Retained only for the duration of the processing (typically less than 5 seconds). After processing is complete, the image is deleted from our servers.
Scan History, Measurements, and 2FA Data: Remains on your device until you choose to delete it.
Aggregated Usage Data: Retained for service improvement purposes in de-identified form.
Camera and Storage Permissions
You may enable or disable camera, photo, or storage permissions through your device settings.
Disabling permissions may prevent certain features from functioning.
Delete Information
You may delete your scan history, measurements, and 2FA data at any time through App controls.
Deleting the App will remove locally stored information from your device.
Withdraw Consent
You may withdraw consent at any time by discontinuing use of the App and deleting the App from your device.
