ScanKit (“we”, “our”, or “the App”) respects and protects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains our on-device processing model, data handling principles, and third-party advertising disclosures.
ScanKit functions under a strict on-device data processing architecture:
Zero Server Uploads: All QR code and barcode detection, decoding, and analysis are carried out entirely on your device using Google ML Kit. We never receive, transmit, or store your camera frames, photos, or scan contents.
Local Storage Only: Your scan history is saved strictly to your device's private local database (Room/SQLite). No scan records are backed up or transmitted to external servers.
No Registration Required: The app does not collect personal identifiers such as your name, email, phone number, or login credentials.
Camera (android.permission.CAMERA): Used solely to provide real-time frame scanning. Camera frames are processed instantly in memory and discarded immediately. No photos or video recordings are saved.
Internet (android.permission.INTERNET): Used exclusively to fetch advertisements via Google AdMob and to open external web links in your preferred browser when tapped.
Vibration (android.permission.VIBRATE): Provides optional haptic feedback on successful code recognition.
Photo Gallery Access: Handled via Android’s modern Photo Picker, requiring zero broad storage permissions.
ScanKit displays non-intrusive advertisements served by Google AdMob (Google LLC) to maintain free access for all users:
AdMob may process device identifiers (such as Google Advertising ID), diagnostics, and coarse location data for advertising and fraud prevention in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy.
Your scan history, barcode contents, and UPI transaction details are never shared with ad providers.
You have full ownership of your data. You can delete individual scans or wipe your entire scan history at any time through the in-app Settings menu.
