The S.C.A.N. Club is a group of amateur radio operators based in southern Illinois. We enjoy learning, sharing knowledge, and using our skills to support both everyday communication and emergency preparedness. Whether you’re newly licensed, have decades of experience, or are just curious about the hobby, you’re welcome to join us.
We meet on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. at College Heights Baptist Church, located at 2321 Illinois Avenue in Eldorado, Illinois.
Our club maintains three open repeaters located on Williams Hill in rural Pope County, the second-highest point in Illinois. These repeaters offer wide-area coverage and are a key part of our regular nets and emergency response:
146.880 MHz (– offset, PL 88.5 Hz) – our primary analog repeater, linked full-time to 147.090 MHz (+ offset, PL 103.5 Hz) in Ava, IL, giving us strong coverage across much of southern Illinois
145.370 MHz (– offset, Yaesu C4FM/Fusion) – supports both digital and analog operation
444.800 MHz (+ offset, PL 88.5 Hz) – a solid UHF analog repeater with regional reach
We offer amateur radio license testing before most regular meetings. If you'd like to take an exam, please contact us ahead of time so we can be sure to have volunteer examiners available.
Family members and non-licensed guests are always welcome at meetings and events.
