Our lab examines how people form impressions from faces (e.g., does a person look trustworthy or untrustworthy?), tell apart new from familiar faces, and process faces differently from objects.

In a separate line of research, we study the factors (e.g., emotional expressions, visual contexts, perceptual fluency) that influence processes like visual attention and approach and avoidance behavior.

Fundamental Motives
This line of research investigates how basic motivational states (e.g., motives to affiliate with others; motives to protect the self from harm) influence various cognition and person perception outcomes.
