Internet Technology and Data Science Lab, University of Antwerp - imec

Internet Technology and Data Science Lab (IDLab) combines its expertise in wireless networking with imec’s expertise in nano-technology for developing end-to-end solutions in domains ranging from healthcare to the Internet of Nano-Things. The solutions are implemented and tested on scalable testbed infrastructures and applied to a broad range of projects in collaboration with industry, consequently resulting in their increased visibility and market value. Prof. Jeroen Famaey, the main supervisor in the ScaLeITN project, is an assistant research professor at the IDLab-Antwerp, also associated with the imec research institute. He performs research in the area of optimization and modeling of low-energy and high-frequency wireless networks.

NaNoNetworking Center, Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya

The NaNoNetworking Center in Catalonia (N3Cat) is an initiative of Prof. Ian F. Akyildiz and Prof. Josep Solè-Pareta at UPC with the main goals of carrying fundamental research on nanonetworks and educating and training the new generation of scientists and students. Through the VISORSURF project, N3Cat is contributing to the the HyperSurface, a prototype of a THz nanonetwork for controlling software-defined metamaterials. This nanonetworking hardware will be a starting point for the development of the ScaLeITN prototype of an in-body THz nanonetwork. Prof. Eduard Alarcòn, the secondment supervisor in the ScaLeITN project, is the head of the Energy Processing Integrated Circuits (EPIC) and the co-director of N3Cat groups at UPC. His ScaLeITN-related research interests include wireless communication at the nanoscale, energy harvesting and wireless energy transfer, and energy management circuitry.
