Our Purpose
"The purpose of the SBU Crochet Club is to provide a space for the crocheters of Stony Brook University to share their work and collaborate amongst others in individual/group projects, as well as encourage beginners to explore the craft of crocheting at their leisure. Additionally, we wish to build a welcoming community of crocheters on campus and promote the mental health benefits that align with the recreational and calming nature of crochet. We welcome crocheters of all levels from beginner to advanced, and intend to support the beginners with the basics. We also encourage bringing supplies (i.e. yarn, hooks, stitch markers) from home for any personal/ongoing projects, but we wish to provide club supplies as well. Our future endeavors include volunteer and donation opportunities; for example, donation of crocheted works to Stony Brook University Hospital and other organizations."

Jessie is a junior majoring in Biochemistry in the pre-optometry track. She loves cats and crocheting!! In her spare time, she likes painting and art, 3D art, crocheting (of course), and dancing. She's been crocheting for four years now and she learned how to crochet on her own through videos and with help from her mother!

Orpa is a sophomore majoring in biology and an international student. She started crocheting the summer after she graduated high school. Other than Crocheting, she knows how to do archery and loves using it to take out her stress.

Naima is a Biology major in her Junior year. She has just started learning how to crochet and hopes that she will soon be able to make plushies and clothes. Naima loves to binge watch shows, shop, listen to music and dance. She is a big foodie and loves to try different cuisines. Naima knows 4 languages and is currently learning her fifth. She believes crochet is a great way to destress and just a great skill to learn!

Hello all! Natalie is a sophomore majoring in Biology at Stonybrook University. She has been crocheting for a year and was a teacher with Crochet Club last year! Her favorite thing about crochet is its versatility, and being able to make things for her friends and family.

Sheila is a junior studying business marketing with a minor in digital arts. She loves Pompompurin, Miffy and Smiskis! Her favorite fashion styles are mori kei and heisei retro. Her favorite three artists at the moment are Laufey, Grentperez and Wave to Earth. She loves Studio Ghibli, and she aspires to live like Arietty. She is an avid music enjoyer, and she used to be in the stonybrook orchestra, wind ensemble and vocalists. She also has a crochet business called @LittleSCrochets, and she sells on and off campus!

Shefa is a junior double majoring in biology and psychology on the pre-dental track. She recently started to crochet and loved learning all the new patterns. She finds it relaxing crocheting after a long day and she likes making small projects while listening to music. She also has a big collection of legos, she loves reading books, and she has been working as a dental assistant for a year!
