Star Parties

Due to the current moisture in the air and the predicted cloud cover, possibility of rain, and low temperature I'm calling off the star party now instead of waiting until 4 or 5 PM. Based on the evening forecast for the next few days and the moon getting brighter, the star party will not be rescheduled. The next one is Thursday, March 23.

2023-24 Saddlebrooke SkyGazer Star Parties*

Held at Softball Field parking lot for 90 minutes,

*Dependent on weather

Come observe the night sky. Bring telescopes, binoculars, or just yourself and friends. Open to all Saddlebrooke residents. View the moon, planets, star clusters, nebulae, and double stars. May be postponed or canceled due to weather.

Try not to shine headlights into the viewing area which is at the south end of the parking lot. Using phones and flashlights will destroy your night vision, so try not to do that around the viewing area. Red lights are preferable at star parties. Generally, it is not a good idea to touch telescopes while viewing because they move easily, and the object may move out of view.

If you’re bringing a telescope or binoculars give yourself time to set up before the start.
