My name is Suzie Brewer and I am a current senior at Texas Christian University where I am studying Communication Studies & Writing. I am a trustworthy leader, a dedicated mentor, and a disciplined worker who desires to improve the community around me. At Texas Christian University, I have been involved in the First-Year Experience, mentoring first-year students through being a Frogs First Leader, an Afternoon Tea Captain Host, and an "Introduction to Univeristy Life" peer guide. I also have served as the president for Sigma Phi Lambda, participated in the Italian Immersion program through being an Italian House resident, represented TCU at "Battle of Flowers" Oratorical competition, and am part of several honor societies including Lambda Pi Eta, Order of Omega, and Pi Epsilon Pi.Â
The past few summers, I have worked at a Christian sports camp where I have learned to engage children and youth through sports and outdoor activities. In addition to my experience with youth sports, I am currently a writing intern at a non-profit literacy center in Fort Worth that works with young children, families and adults, helping them meet their literacy needs. I am passionate about helping children have fulfilling childhoods where they can achieve new skills, have fun, make friends, and positively impact the world around them.
Between growing up in Dallas and going to a university in Fort Worth, I hope to continue to live in a Texas metropolitan city upon graduation and engage with the rich culture and opportunity of this great state. I am open to working in the non-profit sector, education, or archival work. Regardless, I want to make a positive impact in my community.
By creating this digital portfolio, I hope to be able to share a bit about myself and a few pieces of my writing from various courses and projects throughout my time as a student at TCU.
