Pimpri Chinchwad Education Trust’s
S. B. Patil Institute of Management
It is rightly said that the library is the heart of an educational institution. The SBPIM Library plays a vital role in the academic and intellectual development of both students and faculty members. It serves as a dynamic trinity of students, staff, and resources, fostering a strong foundation for teaching, learning, and research.
Established in 2009, the SBPIM Library has been consistently working towards providing quality information services to its users. The library maintains a rich and up-to-date collection of books, periodicals, journals, and digital resources, forming the backbone of the institute’s academic ecosystem. The collection includes technical books, reference materials, general reading resources, print journals, e-books, and e-journals essential for academic excellence.
The library actively supports the institute’s educational and research programs by offering both physical and intellectual access to information. It comprises various sections such as the Reference Section, Journal Section, Reading Hall, Digital Library Section, Multimedia Facility, and Stack Room, ensuring a comprehensive learning environment.
In terms of automation and technology, the library has continuously upgraded its systems. Initially, it operated using Vriddhi software with a barcode-based circulation system. In 2021, the library adopted Eduplus ERP, and in 2022, it transitioned to Koha Library Management Software integrated with RFID technology. This advancement has streamlined daily circulation and enhanced user convenience.
The library infrastructure includes one server and 10 computers with necessary peripherals, enabling access to e-resources and Web OPAC. Additionally, it is equipped with a gate station, a book drop box installed outside the library, a self-check kiosk, and an OPAC system, all connected through a LAN within the institute network.
To strengthen its digital infrastructure and enhance access to scholarly resources, the SBPIM Library subscribes to several prominent databases, including DELNET, e-Pearson Library, Capitaline AWS, and Industry Outlook. In addition, the library has implemented the DSpace Institutional Repository to develop an institutional database for systematically storing, preserving, and archiving academic content, making it easily accessible to both students and faculty members.
These digital resources are available through both remote login facilities and IP-based access within the campus network, ensuring seamless availability of information. Furthermore, through resource sharing within the PCET group of libraries, users also gain access to reputed platforms such as ProQuest, ScienceDirect, and Knimbus Digital Library, thereby significantly expanding the scope of academic and research support.
Overall, the SBPIM Library is committed to providing innovative, user-centric, and technology-driven services to support academic growth and lifelong learning.
