This is an excerpt of my live performance of Jimi Hendrix’s All Along The Watchtower, performed in Spring 2023. The performance included two other songs, which I performed as part of my coursework. This particular module required me to stage a small performance of chosen songs in order to demonstrate my ability as a lead performer. This meant organising practice schedules, assessing health and safety and ensuring the stage was properly set up before the performance. Improvisation is a strength of mine, which this track in particular allowed me to demonstrate. This also helped develop my confidence, as it was the first time I sang in front of an audience. 

This is an excerpt of Gold Rush, an original composition from the Summer of 2023. This was an independent project of mine, where I recorded all aspects, either with live instruments or midi inputs. I used the DAW GarageBand. Gold Rush is one of many original compositions I have created, and arguably the best I have done so far. Over the past two years, creating original music has been a hobby of mine and my skills have gradually developed. This is something I would enjoy learning more about at university, so I can develop my skills in sound recording, allowing me to make professional sounding tracks. 

This is an excerpt of Hey Joe, a reproduction of the famous Jimi Hendrix song. This was another aspect of coursework that focused on the sound recording and mixing areas of music production. I was required to recreate the song entirely from scratch, learning about the benefits of different equipment in the process (for example deciding to use a  condenser or dynamic microphone for the vocals). I found this very developmental, as a guitarist, because a large aspect of crafting the tone of the guitar parts was down to my decision to re-amp the guitars, a process I was unfamiliar with prior to this module.
