Cleber Renato Mendonça is a Professor of Physics at the São Carlos Institute of Physics (IFSC-USP), Brazil. Graduate in Physics from Universidade de São Paulo (1994), master's in Physic from Universidade de São Paulo (1996) and phd. in Physic from Universidade de São Paulo (2000). Acting on the following subjects: optical nonlinearities, nonliner spectroscopy of materials, ultrashort pulses, and microfabrication.
Professor Judy Kim obtained her Doctorate at the University of California, Berkeley and is Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the UCSD since 2005. Her research focuses on spectroscopy of biomolecules, with focus on electron transfer in proteins via amino acid radical intermediates, protein folding, and membrane proteins. Her group uses a combination of vibrational, electronic, and magnetic techniques, including Raman, FRET, and EPR, to probe mechanisms and kinetics of complex biological reactions.
Graduated in the Bachelor of Computational Physics Institute of Physics of São Carlos, USP and got his Master of Science (Applied Physics - Computational) at the same institute, he holds a PhD in Physics from the Institute of Physics (USP), working with condensed matter, and having interest on the development of methods for molecular simulation, such as Monte Carlo methods and molecular dynamics. He has experience in developing software for scientific computing and data analysis, and has worked on the implementation of new methods and parallelization of software using multi-process in shared memory. He has interest in physical-chemical and biochemical systems, in organic systems but also in nanomaterials. Has experience with Configurational Bias Monte Carlo methods, Metropolis Monte Carlo, Grand Canonical Monte Carlo, molecular dynamics and extended ensemble (such as Parallel Tempering Monte Carlo), as well as knowledge in global optmization of structures, clustering and parametrization of interatomic potentials. He was the winner of José Leite Lopes Award for Best Doctoral Thesis.
Thereza Soares is a Full Professor at the University of São Paulo. PhD in Chemistry (2001) from the Federal University of Pernambuco, she works on the application of methods and computer simulations for the investigation of biomolecular processes and for the interpretation of experimental observations from a molecular perspective.
