I had international exposure at a young age. We lived in Bangkok, Thailand and traveled extensively in Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. By the time I was in college, my parents were living in Hong Kong. I received my B.A. in elementary education from the University of Kentucky. I then followed my parents to Rhode Island where I continued my education at the University of Rhode Island and received a M.A. in Reading. Our travels continued as we moved to Cairo, Egypt. I met and married my husband in Cairo. He also has a love for travel and is trilingual – English, Spanish and Arabic. The journey continued to Mogadishu, Somalia and then visits to Managua, Nicaragua. I returned to South Carolina and pursued more education in the form of a M.L.I.S from the University of South Carolina.

I have taught everything from Kindergarten to college and been both a classroom teacher and librarian. I love teaching ESOL! I feel a real connection with my students who are from a variety of cultures and backgrounds. They are the most interesting students ever!
