Over 10 years ago when we decided to breed our beautiful goldendoodle Sasha we carefully researched all we could find about doodle-dogs. Here is why we decided to create double doodles:
They tended to express the best traits from all three amazing breeds
The Golden Retriever traits mellow the active Labrador traits
The playful Labrador traits bring spunk and endurance to the mellow Golden traits
Everyone benefits from the poodle's non-shedding coat
All three breeds are highly intelligent, and the Double Doodles often exceed the intelligence and trainability of their single or even double-breed cousins
They tend to have a healthier, longer lifespan because of their vigorous gene pool
They are perfect for service or facility dog training
They make the BEST family dogs...and are incredibly CUTE!

There are two consistent "cons" mentioned in the several articles we read.
First, the triple mix makes for inconsistency in size, coat type, shedding, and temperament. We combat this by doing Wisdom Panel genetic testing on both of our parents and EACH AND EVERY PUPPY. When you adopt one of our dogs, you know what you are getting.
Second, Double Doodles can be very active. Both of our parents are very mellow dogs. Our puppies are noted by owners and veterinarians alike to be settled, easy-going dogs.
