This course is designed for students planning to major in spatial environmental design. It aims to provide students with an understanding of the fundamental concepts of spatial design and the foundational skills to translate these concepts into physical plans. Students will also learn the fundamental design methods and understanding necessary for urban planning. It aims to provide students with innovative ideas and directions for spatial design at various scales (interior, architectural, street, neighborhood, regional, and urban) to create the spaces necessary for the transition to a sustainable society.
This course aims to teach students the fundamental concepts of urban design and how to utilize computer graphics programs (Sketchup and Photoshop) for urban design. Through a series of small projects, students will learn the principles of spatial design while also developing their ability to observe and evaluate their surroundings. To enhance their understanding of spatial scale, students will measure the sizes of various elements that make up urban space. They will also utilize computer programs to express their creativity and problem-solving strategies.
This course provides comprehensive knowledge about urban regeneration, with a focus on the Korean Urban Regeneration New Deal and its institutional, legal, and practical frameworks. It introduces theories, policies, and issues in urban regeneration while emphasizing case-based learning and research-oriented assignments. Students will examine domestic and international case studies, explore the role of governance and law, and analyze key challenges such as gentrification, community participation, and sustainability. By the end of the semester, students will be equipped with both theoretical and practical perspectives to critically evaluate and design urban regeneration projects.
This course provides fundamental knowledge about housing policy through lectures, discussion, and individual projects. The course introduces fundamental concepts, theories, and issues in housing studies placed in multiple academic disciplines, including urban planning. The course addresses several topics, including but not limited to diverse theoretical perspectives on housing, the major challenges that cities are currently facing in housing markets, the basics of real estate markets, the history of housing policies, affordable housing policies, future directions of housing policies, and so on.
