Canvas is only available for current students who are actively enrolled in classes.
FOR NEW STUDENTS: It takes 2 to 4 hours for the system to update so you will not be able to access Canvas immediately after registering. Please allow for the system to update. If you do not see your courses after this time frame, please reach out to Help Desk for assistance.
Your Canvas login is the same for Self-Service, your Email, and Starfish!
Add a photo to your account to have your instructors and peers can see you!
Click on your account icon in Canvas and select "Settings."
Select the icon next to your name and change the display picture.
Choose a photo to upload that is appropriate and is the correct file type and size.
If you do not have a photo to upload, you can take a picture of yourself by selecting the "Take a Picture" option at the top of the window.
After you have uploaded your picture, it will adjust to fit the circular border.
Select "Save" to save your progress.
For additional help, select the image to the right. It will open up the Canvas article for detailed instructions.
You can add a biography to your account that talks a little more about yourself, if you are comfortable. This is not required to remain active in Canvas. It is based on your preference.
Do not post information that may be private or too personal. For instance, your address, phone number, social media accounts, social security number, etc. This will ensure that your information remains private.
Your biography can be accessed under your "Account" in Canvas by selecting "Profile."
If there is a name that you prefer to go by or if you are in the process of changing your name, you will need to talk to the Admissions & Records Department at your campus to do so.
At Crafton, to change to a preferred or chosen name, fill out the "Student Information Form" and check the Chosen Name box.
At Crafton, to change your name due to a legal name change, fill out the "Student Information Form" and check the Legal Name box.
At Valley, you must contact the Admissions and Records department to start this process or check the Change of Information Form.
You can choose to add your pronouns to your account by going to your account in Canvas and selecting "Settings."
From here, you can choose your pronouns from the drop down menu in that location.
Select the document in this are for more detailed directions and where these pronouns will be displayed in Canvas.
You can set notifications for your entire account or customize them based on your specific courses.
Notifications are sent to your email or as a push notification on your Canvas app.
Based on your preference, you can set notifications to be sent immediately, daily, weekly, or not at all.
