Half Life 2 Purchase Serial Key

Just got my gaming laptop set up. Air link and cable link both worked great. I played the Rift version of Population: One via Air Link on my Quest 2 with no issues. (I had already purchased that game on the Quest 2 store, so I got a free download for the Rift version.) So I see Steam is having a sale on Half Life. I've been wanting to try it out. But I'm confused on how I should purchase it? If I purchase if via Steam, that means I'm not purchasing the Rift version? And even if that statement is true, does it matter? Thanks for helping this gaming rig combined with Quest 2 newbie.

Hey guys so iv recently received my valve index in Australia, iv set it up and played a few games already but cant seem to find Half-Life: Alyx. While the steam website says that if you purchase the index you get Alyx for free yet in Australia it was only able to purchase from the EB games website tho the store website said it would come with a free copy of it. I have already restarted my computer thinking it would pop in to no avail. Any ideas if anyone else had this problem?

Part One is set during the second half of events of Half-Life 2: Episode One. In some cases, you can purchase packs of older titles at a good price, so you might consider buying a set of games and making your decision within the first hour or so of game-play.
