Just for laughs

The towel fiasco

We arrived to our accomodations Sunday afternoon and quickly realized there were no towels for us, which we really needed for showering after a day of travel. The issue was that stores that would sell towels would not be open on Sunday...but we were determined. We walked around the city, almost bought some dish towels that would make due til the next day, then we see some beach towels. We all get a beach towel, go home to shower and realize the towels do not absorb any water. We get reccomendations of where to go to get another towel the next day at school and discover we need to take the metro. We looked it up and the store would only be a 10 minute walk from one of the metro stop so we go to get on. We scan our ticket to get into the station and realize it is not the correct entrance so we ask and someone lead us to another entrance. Scanned our ticket...the wrong entrance again. After wasting two rides we finally find the correct place and hop on. We get off in Trividat and google the store and it tells us it is an hour away. Clearly we have done something wrong..thanks to taylor :) We were able to hop back on the metro to travel to the correct stop, Fontana, and finally find some towels. Once we got back to where we live we go to the supermarket next door for snacks. Walking through the supermarket we come across towels...who knew? So, long story short, we went on an interesting two day journey for towels only to discover they were next door the whole time...what will the next 3 weeks bring us?

The Wonders of Nice, France

Over the weekend we traveled to Nice, France. Such a beautiful city, but sadly it poured down the rain the entire day on Saturday. We still made the most of it though. We were doing some shopping at Galeries Lafayette and an employee told us stores were closing down due to the rain, odd. Anyways, after a long day of exploring, shopping, and eating, we decied to go to our airbnb to rest a bit before dinner. Around 7 we decided to go out to find a good spot for dinner. As we walk around we begin realize nothing is open. We continue down different streets and still nothing is open. There are no restaurants, shops, markets, or anything open. We go back to our airbnb to gather a game plan. At this point we were not starving but slightly hungry. We check the reception at our airbnb to see if they sold any snacks, nothing. We check uber eats for anything that could be delievered to us, all food was currently unavailable. At this point we are tired and starving. We finally discover Domino's Pizza is open, not the ideal dinner while in France but this was our only option so we order a pizza to be delivered to our airbnb. Domino's says it will be delievered in 20 minutes, wonderful. We decide to play some cards to pass the time then notice an hour has gone by and still no pizza. We are STARVING and going crazy. We scavenge around the airbnb and find four complimentary crackers and sugar cubes. We each eat a cracker, similar to graham crackers but much, much smaller. We were debating eating sugar cubes, yes we were that desparate, and then there is a knock on the door. We cheer with excitement only to discover the knock on the door was the neighbor telling us they have a baby sleeping and we need to quiet down. At this point an hour and half has gone by with no pizza. Outraged, we call Domino's to check on our pizza. Turns out they have no english speaking employees so that got us no where. It was getting late and two hours had gone by so we assume the pizza is not coming so we decide to go to bed. To recap, Nice shuts down the city for rain, we had a small cracker for dinner, and for desert we had melatonin gummies in order to get to sleep to forget we were starving. Thank you, Nice.

Milan Mayhem

There were many different times where I thought, man I need to add this to my laughs page so I've just decided to list them. Here it goes!

1. The plane landed pretty late, I'd say around 11:30, and we had to take a bus to the city center to then take the metro to the hotel to get our key, then take the metro to our airbnb. Anyways, we got to the bus just fine, walk to the metro station, and it is closed.

2. We booked a boat tour for Saturday night which we were all so excited for. We thought we would be in a little paddle boat with a tour guide, but we were wrong. We were in a bigger enclosed boat and just rode down the canal and back. We all got a nice nap out of it!

3. We went to a shopping strip called the Galleria beside the Duomo. The shops were very high end brands but we decided to look in them even though we could not afford it. While we were in Prada, the workers literally followed us around the whole time and kept an eye on us because they could tell we could not afford anything.

Fun times :)

The outage

Over our three day weekend in Barcelona, we experienced many laughs. The most commical part of the weekend had to be our experience on Sunday morning. We were all in our separate rooms getting ready. Our plan was to leave at 10:45 to get breakfast then head up to Park Guell. At about 10:15, in the midst of getting ready, the power in all of our rooms goes out. We were all in the middle of fixing our hair, which requires electricity because we were straightening and curling our hair. Yes, my hair was half straight and half natural curls at this point. We finally find a lady who works there but she speaks no english so it was very difficult to explain what happened. Thank goodness for google translate. Anyways, this may not seem like such a big deal, but we all wanted to look nice for our events that day. Well the power did not come back on before we left so we all had to improvise on our appearance. Just our luck.
