The Saving Soccer training sessions are 1 hour long and will be based on the small group idea. Meaning more specialized instruction for the individual player, rather than focusing on the team approach, as we often do during team training. The Goal is for players to develop technical skills, speed, agility, and knowledge of the game to give the player an advantage.
This can mean a few things, prepping them for the college game, making the transition from JV to Varsity, or making the transition to the high school style of play. With a small group/ individualized sessions, players get more reps and are focused on their specific needs. For instance, in a team shooting drill a player might shoot 5-10 times throughout the drill. In small groups, they'd have 100+ shots!
With Saving Soccer, our goal is to meet with the player and find out their personal soccer goals. The training sessions would begin as an overall improvement then transform to specialized training for each player. The benefit of having a smaller player to coach ratio during training. Just like any training, we'd have a brief warm-up portion. Followed by the majority of the hour reinforcing/learning new skills and drills. There will always be a small speed, strength and agility portion. Finally, we'll finish with a cool down and "homework" assignment. The homework is small activities the player can do on their own during the off days.
