In response to the January 22, 2018, email announcing the closure of the UMCDC, parents across the UMCDC immediately organized. In the intervening weeks, we have formally organized a growing group of over 160 current UMCDC and wait list parents who are acting as a collective voice to advocate gaining a secure, permanent University home for the Child Development Center, expanding access to high quality early childhood education and care on the University of Minnesota Twin Cities campus, and further integrating the work of UMCDC into the research, teaching, and service missions of the University.
