The FCC lobby is strong. The FCC safe human exposure limits have not been updated since 1996.
The new scenic Crystal Lake shoreline, effective 2/20-1/25! The 195-foot cell tower (with bulky antennas for sale on the tower for the next 48 years per the APC Towers/Verizon- Frankfort Lease Terms) now looms large on the Crystal Lake ridgeline. The construction crew was ordered to finish building tower on an expedited basis knowing there were community zoning challenges, and so the tower was erected overnight, in the dark.
The City sold-out our natural beauty for $1,000/month—pus extra money everytime that APC Towers adds another Antenna to the Tower. CLT ZOning administrator equates "Tower” and “Antenna” as the same thing in CLT zoning laws. The City and Township are meant to safeguard our lakeshore’s beauty and value.
Join us in standing up to protect our treasured views and Crystal Lake community.

195-Foot Verizon Cell Tower Approved Without Public Input!
A 195-foot Verizon cell Tower is under construction (now up) at Bellows Park on Crystal Lake in Crystal Lake Township, Frankfort, MI. Erected at breakneck speed by the tower company, this project was approved without any public awareness or input.
Bellows Park is zoned Residential Lakeshore District (R-1), a designation that:
• Protects the natural character of the land and the high scenic and economic value of lakeshore properties.
• Permits only single-family dwellings as the principal use.
• Prohibits any building or structure over 28 feet in height.
How did this happen without a public hearing from either the City or Crystal Lake Township? Many community members are only now learning about this project.
This 195-foot cell tower was approved to be built on the Crystal Lake Shoreline with no public input and little public information available. We’re dedicated to sharing clear, factual information based on available records and FOIA findings. Our goal is to unite the community in protecting our beloved Crystal Lake. This tower was approved to be built in an area where usually the highest structure permitted is no greater than 28-feet to protect our area's natural beauty, preserve our economic core based on scenic views and tourism, and to protect residents' home values and health.
PLEASE COME TO THE NOVEMBER 21, 2025 Hearing at the Benzie County Govt. Center in Beulah!
