An Appeal: Help Kolkata Breathe

Last year, with your generous support, we managed to raise enough funds to support West Bengal public health workers with PPE kits and N-95 masks. But unfortunately this year, the battle is even more fierce. The ferocity of the second wave of Covid-19 in India has numbed us, but we need to extend help in whatever way we can. Mukti is organizing a drive for oxygen concentrators, pulse oximeters, medicines and other help in and around Kolkata. Asha for Education, Srijan Realty, Bay Area Prabasi, Rural Health Care Foundation, Aid For Indian Music, and Kolkata Foundation have lent their hand in this critical time to help MUKTI. We at Save our Saviours are also urging you to support this most urgent initiative: Help Kolkata Breathe

Ankita Kothiyal (ankita.kothiyal@muktiweb.org,+917976554178) is the contact on behalf of Mukti for further details on the project. You can also reach out to Save our Saviours team at covidhelpwb@gmail.com

Update Aug 15, 2020: As per instruction from the government of WestBengal, we have donated 3300 PPE kits, 3300 N95 masks, 3300 face-shields to the District Hospital Howrah, and 3300 PPE kits and 3300 N95 Masks to ILS hospital in Howrah. Rotary Belur distributed these medical equipment to these Covid hospitals in presence of District Magistrate of Howrah. We feel thankful to all the donors who have helped us to make this project a success! Please find the formal announcement of the event, pictures from the event (Distribution Event on Aug 15 2020) and letter from Rotary Belur to the hospitals in this page: Closure of the project.

Update July 20, 2020: Apologies for our inordinate delay. Coordinating Rotary Belur, Singapore and International took longer than we anticipated. But finally, thanks to your generosity, we have managed to place orders for 6600 PPE kits, N95 masks and face shields. We are currently liaising with the state health department to organise logistics, and hope to able to deliver to 1-2 covid hospitals in Bengal soon! COVID situation is looking very concerning. We sincerely hope that you all are staying safe!

Update June 7, 2020: With your support we have successfully raised 25K USD, matching fund from Rotary is on its way for Bengal!

Hence, kindly keep supporting us with your generous donations!

We surpassed 25K USD.

Rotary's Global Doubling Grant is on its way.

We thank you all for your support and generosity!

Anything above 25K USD will be used for additional equipment and Amphan Relief.

West Bengal has been devastated by Amphan super cyclone recently and that has made the Covid-19 outlook even more grim and resources far more scarce. With so many people in relief centers and with social distancing becoming an illusion under the circumstances, any outbreak at this point can become a humanitarian disaster. Your support can make a real difference in the fight against Covid-19 and Amphan in West Bengal. We urge you to join us as a partner in this initiative.

We are reaching out to everyone with an urgent appeal for help. Kindly help us reach your friends and well-wishers especially at the local Bengali Association to support West Bengal healthcare workers and public health system at this hour of crisis.

At this hour of crisis, when some of the best resourced public hospitals are being ravaged by Covid-19, public hospitals in India severely lack protective and life-saving medical equipment. This is a call for donations as an expression of global solidarity. Rotary Belur will buy the equipment from reputed suppliers and supply to the public health department. West Bengal Health dept. has approved our in-kind contribution, and Rotary has kindly agreed to equally match our contributions if we manage to raise at least 25,000 USD. We aim to supply 5000+ PPE kits to public hospitals where COVID patients are treated for free, while supporting hand hygiene initiatives in Amphan relief camps. In the next phase of the project, with your kindness and solidarity, we plan to focus on life-saving equipment like ventilators.
