Are Vulnerable to Extinction; they are facing a high risk of extinction in the wild.” It is estimated that there are only about 2000 mature individuals in the Galapagos Islands’; they can only be found in the Galapagos Islands of Isabela and Fernandina. The Galapagos Flightless Cormorants are the only cormorants that can’t fly; their wings are not waterproof, but their feathers are thicker than the flying cormorants; they are the heaviest (up to 11 pound) and the largest of all cormorants (up to 40 inches), they dive in order to catch their food (octopus, rockfish and eel).
