About half of the world’s blue footed boobies live in the Galapagos Islands, the other 50% can be found at the Pacific Coast of North America and South America, from California to Peru They can live up to 17 years old, can be as tallest of 34 inches with wingspan of 5 feet, and can weight 3.25 pounds. They make their nests out of dirt and poop (guano). Blue footed boobies are excellent divers, in the day time they hunt over the water. The pigments named carotenoids are the reason for the blue color of their feet; however these pigments function as antioxidants as well to help them to be healthy.
