Project Description: For this project I had to research Cyber-Security that has been in the news. Things like hacking, phishing, and scams
Women sent to prison for stealing elderly peoples identity: This is identity fraud. This women prayed on vulnerable elderly people when serving them as a waitress and those that were in her care. She was charged with not only identity fraud but theft, forgery, and credit card fraud. This is effecting all those elderly people who's identity’s were stolen without their knowledge. A way to avoid or protect yourself from credit card fraud is not letting your credit cards be saved on online sites and even just making sure you take a look at your monthly bill.
Facebook messenger scam : This is a phishing scam. People are hacking into your friends accounts and sending links that will let them access your information to hack you’re Facebook. This us effecting facebook users all around the world who are falling for this phishing scam who are then getting hacked. Changing your passwords frequently and not clicking on suspicious links can protect you from becoming part of a phishing scam.
Government Ransomware attack :This was a ransomware attack. A group of hackers hacked into a local government to disrupt public services over the past year. This has not only been effecting the government but civilians as well. To prevent this there could have been multiple ways of stopping it. One way is installing a security solution to protect the whole public service announcements.
Lesson Learned: I learned today how easy it for cyber attacks to happen to anyone. No matter who you are you can get hacked. People will take advantage even when they don't know you. Like the situation with the elderly linked in this very website page!
