The work I do is important to me because I like art - in it's many forms. I like to try new things and push myself to do better , to be better. I plan to become an art teacher and knowing how to do many types of art will be important. I mostly do art because I love it and it excites me.
Usually, my ideas for my art jump out expectantly. So I plan as best I can and go with the flow. Sometimes I plan every part of it and scrap some of it in the process, but other times I just go with my instincts. My horse tiles are a great example; they started out as sculptures but they weren't working so I changed it up. I wanted to do horses, particularly the four horsemen, but the sculptures weren't doing it. Instead, I planned the tiles with the basic shapes that the sculptures were originally going to be and let it go from there.
My most recent work, my teapot and it's cups, were done to challenge myself with slab building. I haven't done much of slab building so it was an attempt to improve myself. It was a fun and frustrating experiment and I enjoyed every moment of it - now that it's done.
