Language acquisition is a journey.

Language is connection. It is more than just learning words and sounds, it is learning cultures and relationships and history, and yes: it is also words and sounds and syntax and grammar. I help students navigate their personal journey and meet their language goals.

Goals

My number one goal is to help my students to succeed academically and in language acquisition.

Outside of that, I am working to earn my Wisconsin Teaching Certification and constantly learn more about ways to better serve my students and their families!

Philosophy

Our ELL department is very fortunate to have more access than ever to technology and resources that can help our students and curriculum teachers to communicate! Thanks to audio-translating software, Microsoft and Google Translation services, educational video subtitles, and the district's dedication to finding accessible literature for our students, our students have access to more lesson content in their home language, while still being able to experience English immersion and opportunities to engage in practical ways with their peers.

While the district remains committed to finding the best resources and tools for our students, we also know that the key to student growth isn't technology: it's relationships. So, although these technological tools certainly offer more options to our students, they are not the end-all be-all of our program. Students need individualized teaching and attention, a liaison on their educational journeys, and ultimately, just someone in their corner.
